Boutique Whitening?
Boutique Whitening is a professional system developed by UK dentists, used and prescribed only by registered dental professionals. It uses custom-fitted trays — made precisely to your teeth — to deliver whitening gel safely and evenly.
Teeth whitening is a regulated dental procedure in the UK. Only a registered dentist or dental professional can legally prescribe and supervise it. Products sold in beauty salons or online without a prescription are illegal and potentially harmful — and they simply do not work as well.
Our trays are manufactured by one of the most experienced plastics laboratories in the UK, so quality and fit are guaranteed.
How it works —
step by step
Clinical examination
Your dentist examines your teeth and gums, ensures any cavities are restored, and takes an full mouth digital scan for your bespoke whitening trays.
Tray fabrication
Your scan then get’s sent to our UK dental laboratory, where qualified technicians make trays moulded precisely to your mouth. This can take up to 2 weeks.
Collect and start
Collect your trays from the practice. Your dentist will show you how to load and wear them, and which gel strength they have chosen for you.
Results
Results are typically visible within days. Most patients achieve their target shade within 2–3 weeks of consistent use.
Choosing your
whitening gel
Your dentist will discuss your lifestyle and any sensitivity history before recommending a gel. We offer two Boutique whitening formulas — one for daytime use and one for overnight wear.
Boutique by Day
6% Hydrogen Peroxide — 90 minutes wear per day
A fast-acting formula for people who want maximum results with minimum wear time. Just 90 minutes of daily use delivers a visibly whiter smile — ideal if you prefer to whiten during the day.
Best for: busy schedules, those who prefer not to wear trays overnight.
Boutique by Night
Carbamide Peroxide — overnight wear while you sleep
Let the whitening happen while you sleep. We offer two strengths depending on your starting shade and sensitivity:
- 10% carbamide — for patients with sensitive teeth or a more gradual approach.
- 16% carbamide — our most popular formula. Tough on stains, gentle on teeth. Most patients see results within days.
Best for: those who prefer overnight treatment, or who find daytime wear inconvenient.
Your dentist will recommend the most appropriate formula for you based on your teeth and lifestyle. Both options use Boutique’s double-action formula — peroxide removes surface stains while oxygen ions penetrate to whiten from the inside out.

A note on non-professional products
Over-the-counter and salon products are restricted by law to very low peroxide concentrations — insufficient for meaningful whitening, and without the clinical supervision that prevents misuse. Professional whitening is both more effective and safer.
Side effects and sensitivity
Sensitivity is the most common side effect — affecting up to 75% of people, from mild discomfort to more noticeable sensitivity. To reduce the risk:
- Fill trays only to the dosing dots — excess gel can cause gum irritation
- If sensitivity is significant, whiten on alternate days with Sensodyne in the trays overnight on rest days
- Speak to your dentist about switching to a milder gel if needed
Realistic expectations
Whitening is not an exact science. One course does not always equal a perfect result — some patients need more time or gel. If you grind your teeth overnight, a daytime gel usually gives better results. Your dentist will talk through what is realistic for you before you start.
