Independently inspected.
Nothing to improve.

We are registered with and inspected by Healthcare Inspectorate Wales. We publish both of our inspection reports in full, unedited.

Pont Steffan Dental Practice is registered with and inspected by Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW), the independent regulator of healthcare in Wales. Inspections are not optional and we do not choose when they happen — HIW decides, and inspectors attend with a dental peer reviewer to examine how the practice actually runs.

We have been inspected twice, eight years apart. On both occasions HIW identified no areas for improvement, in any of the three areas they assess, and no improvement plan was required.

What HIW found in 2026

Our most recent inspection took place on 10 June 2026, with the report published on 10 September 2026. HIW assesses three areas:

Quality of patient experience

HIW found the practice “committed to providing a positive experience for patients”, with arrangements to protect privacy and treat people with dignity. Inspectors observed staff greeting patients bilingually, in person and on the telephone.

Safe and effective care

The practice was found to be meeting the relevant regulations for health, safety and welfare. Infection prevention and control arrangements were described as robust, and inspectors recorded evidence of “very good clinical records”.

Management and leadership

HIW found good leadership with clear lines of accountability, and “a strong ethos and positive culture”. The staff team was found to work very well together, with all staff having received appraisal and training.

What our patients told the inspectors

HIW invites patients to complete their own questionnaire, independently of the practice. Thirty-six patients responded to the 2026 inspection.

Every single patient who completed a HIW questionnaire rated the service as ‘very good’. All of them also confirmed that the dental team had given them aftercare instructions on how to maintain good oral health.

We publish both reports in full, unedited. We would encourage you to read them.
