At Pont Steffan we often hear that patients would like a brighter, whiter smile. This can be achieved by bleaching your teeth and lightening your existing colour by several shades. Teeth whitening should only be performed by a dentist, dental hygienist or dental therapist with a prescription from a dentist. It is illegal for anyone else to perform teeth whitening (e.g. beauticians and hairdressers), they won't have the correct training and could permanently damage your teeth and gums.

Why Choose Philip Zoom?

Philips Zoom can give you a whiter smile and achieve maximum result in one to two weeks

We offer both Philips Zoom NiteWhite and DayWhite which means you can whiten your teeth when it's convenient for you. If you miss a day it's absolutely fine to start and stop your whitening to accommodate your schedule

We will make you a custom whitening tray that will fit perfectly to the contours and your teeth. This means you can get a bright smile applied evenly

Philips Zoom is backed by studies that show it is safe and effective, you can be assured that your results will be consistent and safe on any fillings or restorations you have

Teeth Whitening FAQs

 Will it hurt?

It is normal to experience some sensitivity for a short time during your treatment, this will soon fade away after treatment completion.

Is teeth whitening permanent?

Teeth whitening is not permanent. It can last anything from a few months to three years, this is dependant on your diet and lifestyle. It won't last as long if you smoke, drink tea or coffee and red wine, these can all stain your teeth.

 Are there side effects?

The most common side effect is tooth sensitivity after treatment. Others may experience discomfort in the gums, a sore throat or white patches on the gum line. These are usually temporary and should disappear after a few days of finishing your treatment.

 Am I suitable?

Everyone is different, this is why you must have a check up to see if you are dentally fit to use the whitening kit. Your dentist will advise you on this and also which option would be most suitable for you.

 When won't it work?

Teeth whitening only works on your natural teeth. If you have dentures, veneers or crowns it will not work on these.
